Ridge Woodcarvers Preserving a Vanishing Art
The 40 plus members of the Ridge Woodcarvers Club are doing their part to perpetuate the art of woodcarving and peoples’ appreciation of this art. In centuries past wood carvings were prolific, adorning many churches, castles and state buildings. Now it is rare to find wood carvings used in the architectural design of a building or even to adorn a shelf or table inside the home.
The Ridge Woodcarvers meet on Monday evenings at the Florida Presbyterian Homes, McArthur Center, 811 Lakeside Drive. They gather to carve, share their knowledge and socialize with others who enjoy wood carving. Visitors and Guests are welcome.
Whether you have an interest in learning to carve or simply enjoy viewing the fascinating work done by other wood carvers, you should follow the Ridge Woodcarvers Club activities. You will find them on the web at www.RidgeWoodcarversClub.org.
