Community Arts Recognition Program
The Community Arts Recognition Program (CARP) created by the Executive Director was designed to be a forum which would honor and celebrate the backbone of the local arts industry of Central Florida's Polk County. The desire was to create a forum where all could convene at one place at one time and celebrate the arts together, hence "Community Arts". Given that PAA is a still a relatively new organization, the plan was to start small and each year recognize a new segment of the local arts community until we could honor all each year together. These honorees would be those who volunteer for the arts, those who teach the arts, those who financially support the arts and many others. This program would be PAA's way of saying THANK YOU to the arts community at large in Polk County. Last, the decision was made to host the program or at least announce those selected for that year, each year during National Arts and Humanities month, which is always in October.
In the fall of 2006, PAA offered the first annual community arts recognition program. This first year honored fine arts educators who are the frontline professionals exposing children to the wonderful world of art in the K-12 educational system of Polk County.
In 2007, the group we will focus on is the "Volunteer," the people who ensure the functionality of the arts industry. Application forms will become available August 2007 t to the community at large. Again, anyone will be welcome to nominate that non-staff person or persons who you feel gives tirelessly of their time, talents and/or treasures to the local arts and culture community of Central Florida's Polk County.
