Executive Director, The Lakeland Center
As the Executive Director of The Lakeland Center, Mike LaPan oversees the operation of Polk County’s largest entertainment and convention complex. He joined The City of Lakeland in late 2004. Under his creative direction and leadership, The Lakeland Center is once again offering an enhanced line-up of diverse concerts and entertainment events.
Previously, LaPan served as Executive Director of University of South Florida’s Sun Dome for 10 years and was a part of their administrative team for more than two decades.
LaPan started his career in facility management, with Pritchard Services, at the University of South Florida’s Sun Dome located in Tampa, FL. He became an employee of the Sun Dome Inc. in 1981, and has held various positions there including Business Manager, Director, and President.
LaPan graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management. Additionally, he attained Certified Facility Executive (CFE) credentials from the International Association of Auditorium and Arena Managers (IAAM) in 1998.
LaPan has recently moved to Lakeland with his wife Pam and two their dogs. He enjoys a variety of hobbies including jogging, aviation and his passion for classic rock.
