Ryan Bailey is a career artist with a Master's Degree in Fine Arts (Studio Art) from Florida State University.  For ten years he taught art techniques and art appreciation at Gulf Coast Community College and the Visual Arts Center in Panama City before moving to Winter Haven in 1998.  He is an adjunct art instructor teaching drawing and design at Florida Southern College in Lakeland and art appreciation for the Barry University branch campus in Polk County.  He currently teaches drawing and watercolor at Ridge Art Association in Winter Haven.  His art instruction workshops include portrait drawing and a seminar on the business of fine arts.

Bailey is a full-time artist and a scholar of art history presenting slide presentations on the subject of art techniques and art history.  He is often called upon to judge art shows and supports the arts whenever he can.

He has contributed art reviews to the Winter Haven News Chief.  His views on art as a career were featured in the book, "Careers in Art" by Blythe Camenson.

Since he began painting in oils at the age of eight, Ryan has won numerous awards, including five 'Best of Shows'.  Though he started in oils, he turned to acrylics in his teen years and many of his works continue to be in the medium of acrylics on canvas.  Now most of the works consist of mixed media assemblages incorporating found-objects, or polychrome wood pieces with slightly raised or relief surfaces.   Bailey's other artistic endeavors include: graphic designer, portrait artist, art publicist, and he has even worked as a courtroom artist.  However, he is first and foremost a fine artist, creating unique regionalist works.

Bailey has had many exhibitions of his work throughout Florida and the Southeast, as well as New York, Texas and Japan.  Featured shows include the Visual Arts Center in Panama City, the Florida Center for Contemporary Art in Tampa, the University of Georgia, PCC, the Lake Wales Arts Center and Ridge Art Association.  His work hangs in both public and private collections and can be found in the permanent collections of the Pensacola Museum of Art, the University of Northwest Florida (Pensacola), Polk Community College, the US Attorney's Office in Atlanta, and the Visual Arts Center in Panama City.
