Explorations V Children's Museum
Children’s Museums are family magnets and
Explorations V Children’s Museum is no exception!
Located in the heart of downtown Lakeland in a historic 1929 building, Explorations V is three floors of kid-powered exhibits and programs that celebrate the five senses! Art is the pathway for many of the learning concepts, freeing the child’s creativity and unleashing the power of play.
It was founded on the premise that children, like adults, use all five senses to explore and learn about the world around them, hence the “V” in our name. Now in its sixteenth year, it is open six days a week from 9 to 5:30 and is positioned as the only children’s museum in the area.
The first floor features “Our Town” including eighteen exhibits that offer unlimited opportunities for learning through the basics of music appreciation, art history, theatre, math, science and history.
Children are introduced to local history and the world through “O” is for Oranges, from seed to Our World” on the lower floor. Climb the big orange tree, pick, sort, pack and send the oranges, process and sell your juice, and “drive” the grove truck all over the world! Young scientists, future farmers and consumers are immersed in an interactive journey through a fanciful Florida orange grove and beyond into Asia, Africa, Australia and America.
The mission is to provide a hands-on, fun-filled adventure in learning for children and their families! This journey of discovery is geared to children ages birth through twelve.
Explorations V Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a member of the Polk Arts Alliance, the Florida Association of Museums, the Association of Children’s Museums and the American Association of Museums.
